Abstract

The number of children with special needs in preschool has been increasing in the last few years. It is critical to quickly identify these needs in time to prevent the effects they may bring. With this in mind, we have created a screening tool based on the principles of the Universal Design for Learning, using standardized tests based on Mexican kids. This tool was created for kids with special needs in a public school (CAM SERTOMA) in Monterrey, Mexico. This tool allows us to explore and identify potential needs to tackle - as well as strengths - in children's motor, cognitive and sensory skillsets.
